Lux Story

First and foremost, we are a family business.

All our Products with Purpose design & production is on-site at our family home in Buckinghamshire.

Family is everything to us. Working here together means we can spend quality time with each other and live the lifestyle our business endorses. We eat wholesome, nourishing food, take long country walks with our two rescue dogs, Kardia and Lilly (perfect for inspiring new ideas). And, there is always someone around to keep an eye on baby Arthur too 😉

Our pots and pens workshop is situated in stables, where our horses used to reside. They were full to the brim with hay and now they are full to the brim with wonderful wood. Mel relishes time spent there with the lathe, crafting mindful products out of meaningful materials. The only way her husband, Paul, can tempt her away is with a glass of wine! He uses this to his advantage when the night is drawing in and he wants to lure her back into the house!

The Meaning…

Lux translates to light in Latin

At Lux Handcrafted our Products with Purpose are all about shedding light, i.e. seeking, finding and growing through TRUTH.

We believe that words are important. As meaningful vibrations of thoughts, affirmations of intent are transmitted to the universe in order to manifest and raise collective conscious.  Our business name is no different.

While journaling (with a Lux pen) one is seeking the TRUTH, and lighting one of our candles also helps ‘shed light’.

What’s the spiral all about?

One of the oldest geometric shapes in ancient artwork, dating back to the Neolithic periods (thousands of years before writing), the meanings associated with the spiral perfectly illustrates LUX VALUES AND PURPOSE.

It is found in cultures the world over. As one of our most ancient and enduring symbols, this age-old intuitive symbol represents the cycle of birth, growth, death and re-incarnation.  Spiralling from outer ego (outside world)  into the inner soul (cosmic awareness and enlightenment), it depicts the winding journeys we must take inward to evolve and grow to truly know and love ourselves

“The path isn’t a straight line; it’s a spiral. You continually come back to things you thought you understood and see deeper truths”
